Ohio Rabbit and Cavy Clinic

DATE:     Saturday, March 19, 2005
                No pre-registration is required

LOCATION/LEVEL:

Held at the Champaign County fairgrounds, Urbana, Ohio

This is a state-wide educational program for 4-H advisors, 4-H members and adults interested in raising rabbits and cavies.  The public is invited and welcome to attend. 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

There is no cost or pre-registration needed.

In early January 2005, a copy of the program will be sent to Extension Offices in all Ohio counties to send to their rabbit and cavy members and advisors.  Please send information to any interested adults as well.  Registration starts at 8:45 AM. The clinic will begin at 9:30 AM, lasting until 12:30 PM. 

GOALS/OBJECTIVES:

There will be speakers, demonstrations, exhibits, displays of different rabbit and cavy breeds, plus educational sessions for all levels of expertise in rabbits and cavies.  The school is sponsored by the Champaign County 4-H Rabbit & Cavy advisors.  Participants will learn:

  • Proper care, nutrition and handling of rabbits & cavies
  • Proper housing and equipment
  • Genetics, anatomy and health care
  • Skills in selection and exhibition
  • How to enhance youth learning and skills
  • Being successful with a commercial rabbitry
  • Breeds of rabbits and cavies
