Champaign
County Fair
The Champaign county fair is
the largest Junior Fair "livestock" fair in the state. No other Ohio
fair has more junior fair livestock than the Champaign county fair.
Below are some of the numbers from the 2004 fair:
-
Swine 976 head
-
Horses/Ponies 197 head
-
Beef
178 head
-
Dairy
141 head
-
Sheep
268 head
-
Rabbits
357 head
-
Poultry 244 pens
-
Goats
106 head
-
Llamas/Alpacas 12 head
- Cavies 78 head
The county fair is operated by the County Agricultural Society with assistance
from the OSU Extension Office and the county Agricultural Educators (FFA
advisors).
Livestock is not the only junior fair projects exhibited.
Non-livestock projects are also plentiful. We had 866 non-livestock projects exhibited at the 2004 fair. These include clothing,
food-nutrition, creative arts, woodworking, aerospace, conservation, gardening
and many other project areas.
The Champaign county fair remains a traditional rural county fair.
The County Agricultural Society works hard to maintain the traditional
rural flavor while providing modern fair facilities. Next year's Champaign
County Fair dates are:
August 5-12, 2005
