4-H CARTEENS is a traffic safety program conducted by 4-H teen leaders and their program partners for first-time juvenile traffic offenders. In partnership with local juvenile court judges, teen traffic offenders have a single opportunity to attend the program and learn about topics such as drinking and driving, seatbelt safety, consequences of unsafe driving, tips for safer driving and driving distractions. The goals of the 4-H CARTEENS program include reducing the number of repeat juvenile traffic offenders, decreasing the number of teen traffic offenders, increasing teen awareness of traffic/vehicular safety, and increasing public speaking and leadership skills of teen instructors.
